Autograph musical quotation of the Italian composer and pianist's best-known piece, Prima Carrezza, penned neatly on a postcard of Madison Square, New York. De Crescenzo has written out four measures of the theme on precisely ruled lines, and signed boldly at the foot. "Poème des rivages" - Autograph Musical Quotation

Autograph musical quotation from the great French organist, timpanist, chorus master, conductor, author and teacher. He has penned two measures from his orchestral work "Poème des rivages" (op. 77), elegantly signed and dated Philadelphia, January 6, 1922. Trimmed from a heavy card album leaf, with an area of damage at the upper edge and slightly peeling off from the backing; overall in very good condition. 6.75 x 3.5 inches (17.5 x 8.6 cm).

"Quel sangue versato dal cielo s'innalza" - Autograph Musical Sketch from "Roberto Devereux"

Original manuscript sketchleaf in the hand of the important bel canto composer, showing an early stage of composition for the famous final aria from his opera Roberto Devereux, "Quel sangue versato." 19 single staves of musical sketches in several sections over two pages of a bifolium. The first four lines of music are a sketch of the melody of the aria, with the text: "Quel sangue versato in cielo s'innalza... Giustizia domanda, reclama vendetta... Già l'angiol di morte fremente v'incalza... Supplizio inaudito entrambi vi aspetta... Sì vil tradimento, delitto sì rio clemenza non merta, non merta pietà... Nell'ultimo istante volgetevi a Dio; ei solo perdono conceder potrà." The next three lines of music are without text; the final three lines of the section have some fragmentary lyrics below the music. At the foot of the first page, seven measures of music have been sketched out; on the verso, a further six lines of unidentified musical fragments. 25. Fauré, Gabriel. (1845-1924).
Prométhée - Original Program

Paris: Stern. 1907. Original program from a performance of Fauré's "tragédie lyrique," Prométhée, as part of the Grands Festivals Populaires de Paris on December 12, 1907, with a tremendous 600 performers and conducted by the composer. The enormous work, with spoken and musical sections, calls for three wind bands, a very large string section, twelve harps, choir, and solo singers and actors. This was its second performance, after the Paris premiere of 1900, and was presented as a benefit for flood victims in the Hérault region of France. The attractively designed cover features a striking color drawing by C. Bétout, engraved by Stern. In fine condition. 6 x 9.25 inches (15 x 23.6 cm).

Signed cabinet photograph of the important Hungarian-born Viennese composer, inscribed to the Italian composer Leone Sinigaglia with an autograph musical quotation from Goldmark's best-known work, Die Königin von Saba. Goldmark has signed and inscribed to Sinigaglia at the foot of the photograph, dated Vienna [18]99, and penned the first five measures of the overture to the opera along the left edge. Jewel Song - Autograph Musical Quotation

Autograph musical quotation from the important French composer of mélodies, who has penned two lines of music from Gounod's famous "Jewel Song" in Faust with the text "Non! Non! Ce n'est plus toi! Non! Non! Ce n'est plus ton visage!" and boldly signed at the foot, identifying the quotation as a "fragment...celebre." On a sheet measuring 13 x 21 cm with a small mounted photograph of Hahn and his name inscribed in the collector's hand; together with the original envelope, both mounted recto/verso on a slightly larger sheet. A few spots of foxing and a little wrinkled overall, else fine.

Signed Silhouette Portrait with Autograph Musical Quotation

Charming original jumbo cabinet card photograph of silhouette vignettes of the Austrian operetta composer and conductor, by silhouette artist Otto Böhler, signed and inscribed by Heuberger on the mount to the Italian composer Leone Sinigaglia. Heuberger is shown in seven small vignettes taking his seat, conducting with animated gestures, and bowing to his audience. He has inscribed at the foot, dated Vienna, 1898, and added a musical quotation of three measures from the waltz-duet "Geh'n wir in's Chambre separée," from his best-known operetta, Der Opernball. Photographic reproduction of the silhouettes by R. Lechner of Vienna and on the photographer's card. Typed Letter Signed, Organizing a Visit to the Institut für Neue Musik, Freiburg and giving details of a lecture on Mahler

An interesting typed letter signed from the important twentieth-century composer, organizing the details of a lecture series at the Institut für Neue Musik, Freiburg. Addressed to a Mr. Carl Johnson and dated February 23, 1969, the letter mentions Ligeti's travel arrangements from Vienna to Freiburg, his preference for a quiet hotel room ("bell-ringing does not bother me, but cars very much do") and the details of his lecture series on "Form and Instrumentation in Mahler's Symphonies." Complete translation from the German below. Large rust mark from a paperclip and one small tear at the upper edge, but signature in fine condition. 8 x 10.5 inches.
