Very slightly wrinkled, toned, else fine.  Second Edition of the libretto of Korngold's most successful Opera, inscribed and signed on the title page  ("... E. W. Kgl. Munich, 26 I. 55 ") to "Frau Staatsoper intendant Hildegard Hartmann" with an autograph musical quotation from "Violanta," Korngold's second opera, written when he was seventeen years old.

A rare signed libretto from the composer's great opera based on symbolist Georges Rodenbach’s phantasmagoric novel Bruges-la-morte. Composed by Korngold when he was just 23, its tremendous success heralded him as one of German opera's most promising talents. (14525)
