"Khachaturian: Gayne Ballet Suite" - SIGNED LP

Signed LP from the leading Soviet-Armenian composer best known for his ballet music. The 1956 LP features the Philadelphia Orchestra and Eugene Ormandy performing the suite from Khachaturian's ballet Gayane and Kabalevksy's The Comedians. Khachaturian has signed boldly across the back cover. Columbia Records CL 917. Some light rubbing to the back cover, but overall in fine condition. 

Gayane (here spelled "Gayne") was Khachaturian's first large-scale ballet, first composed in 1939 and revised several times in the 1940's and 1950's. Its "Adagio" is now well-known for its use in films including 2001: A Space Odyssey.  (14792)
