Used drum stick from the American jazz drummer, pianist, and composer, one of the most influential jazz drummers of the 20th century, given his extensive work as leader and sideman for musicians including Freddie Hubbard, Keith Jarrett, John Abercrombie, Sonny Rollins, Miles Davis, Joe Henderson, and John Scofield. A Vic Firth stick with DeJohnette's name printed in cursive to the handle. Well-worn and used, obtained by our consignor directly from DeJohnette himself and sold with a signed letter of provenance dated 2014.

Sammelband of important orchestral works arranged for piano, compiled ca. 1820 and including early English publications of Beethoven's symphonies nos. 1, 2, 3, and 6, Haydn's symphonies nos. 3 and 12, and opera overtures by Beethoven, Rossini, Cherubini, and Winter. Several of the pieces have small pencil annotations. 12 pieces and approximately 275 pages in total. Handwritten table of contents with hand-inked graphic surround, marbled endpapers, bound in marbled boards with leather-bound spine. Heavy wear and a large vertical split along the center of the spine, some large stains and wear to the boards; marbled endpapers and gutters very good. Original postcard photograph of the German conductor long associated with the Munich, Berlin and Covent Garden operas, signed with a detailed inscription on the verso to a Fraulein Mela Weiss, as a souvenir of a performance of Idomeneo in Munich, 1956. Some wear to the edges and indentations to the surface from another inscription in pen, but overall in very good condition. 3.5 x 5.5 inches (9 x 14 cm).

Two interesting press photographs relating to the great American novelist, short story writer, and journalist.  Hemingway is seen in an iconic portrait photograph in Spain in 1959, photographed by Larry Burrows; and with bullfighter Luis Miguel Dominguin and actress Ava Gardner in 1954. These later reprint photographs have been used in a newspaper office and are stamped on the verso with dates from the 1980's to 1990's. In fine condition, each 5 x 7 inches (12.7 x 17.9 cm). Original 1921 Argentinian Programs and Broadside

Four original programs and one broadside from performances of the important German pianist and pedagogue (billed in Spanish as Guillermo Backhaus) and the Wendling Quartet, at the Buenos Aires venues Teatro Cervantes and Teatro Odeon in August-September 1921. The series of performances included chamber works by Brahms, Mozart, Beethoven and Schumann. The detailed program booklets, each about 20 pp., contain extensive program notes. Two Vintage Postcards

Two original ca. 1920's-30's postcards of little people performers, the musical ensemble "Bob Hermines' Midgets Band" and the entertainment troupe "Johnny J. Jones Midget Troupe." The "troupe" consisted of "French, Belgian and American midgets," each of whom performed under a royal or noble name. The band appeared at the New York World's Fair in 1939–40. Some light soiling and creases; overall very good to fine. 5.5 x 3.5 inches (14 x 9 cm).

Autograph letter from the German-born British baritone, pianist, conductor, and composer. June 27, 1889. Writing in German to a "Frau Lewis," Henschel expresses regret that she is not well, thanks her for the "very lovely outfit, unfortunately unwittingly left behind," and writes that he is "sending the corpus delicti back with greatest thanks." 3 pp. on Henschel's embossed London letterhead.
