Autograph letter from the German-born British baritone, pianist, conductor, and composer. June 27, 1889. Writing in German to a "Frau Lewis," Henschel expresses regret that she is not well, thanks her for the "very lovely outfit, unfortunately unwittingly left behind," and writes that he is "sending the corpus delicti back with greatest thanks." 3 pp. on Henschel's embossed London letterhead. Vintage promotional photograph of the Philadelphia Orchestra with Eugene Ormandy on the podium. A posed photograph with all the musicians at rest, any looking directly at the camera. Minor creasing and wear to edges and lower left corner, else fine. 10 x 8 inches (25.5 x 20.6 cm). 

The famed relationship between Eugene Ormandy and the Philadelphia Orchestra, where he served as music director for over 40 years, is one of the longest-lasting in classical music history.

Signed photograph of the Polish conductor and composer, known for his tenures with the Liverpool Philharmonic, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande. He has signed and inscribed at the lower right. Poor contrast to the inscription and signature, barely legible, otherwise very good. 4.75 x 6.75 inches (12 x 17 cm), tipped to a mount of 5.75 x 7.75 inches.

Glossy 8 x 10 photograph of the legendary conductor of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (1938-48) and of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (1953-1962), flipping through an orchestral score and wielding his impressive baton. Boldly inscribed and signed in green ink "For Rev. & Mrs. Robert Gillespie, cordially, Fritz Reiner./ Pittsburgh, Nov. 1945." Some light wear along the edges, with two tiny nicks in the left side, overall fine.

Original photograph of the American pianist, composer, and conductor, shown in a studio portrait by Kesslère of New York. Stamped on the verso by the photographer. Cropping pencil marks at the right edge; otherwise overall fine. 8 x 10 inches (20.3 x 25.4 cm).

A student of Moszkowski, Leschetizky and Paderewski, Schelling was an important pianist and was also the first conductor of the Young People's Concerts of the New York Philharmonic.

Signed Mishkin photograph of the Swedish mezzo-soprano who sang with the Metropolitan Opera from 1917 to 1932. She is shown in an original costume portrait by Mishkin of New York and has signed and inscribed across the image: "To Mr. Ralph Brennan with highest regards and good wishes from Julia Claussen. Signed photograph of the important Italian tenor, on a card used as a pass for the musical society Gioventù Musicale d'Italia. The card is also signed on the verso by the president of the organization, and notes that Gigli is an honorary member. Stamped Passport from his Farewell Tour

Original Italian passport of the important tenor, containing his photograph, signature, stamps and visas, and issued on December 10, 1954. The passport contains stamps from West and East Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Spain, the United States, and Canada, all dated 1955 and acquired during Gigli's farewell world tour. 24 pp. Green cloth binding. Three Original Notebooks of Song Lyrics

Three small original notebooks of typed and handwritten song lyrics, created and used in recital by the great Italian tenor. The small ring-bound notebooks contain lyrics in Italian, French, English and German to arias, lieder and art songs performed by Gigli, typewritten and arranged in order of performance. The lyrics to the English and German songs are rendered phonetically with Italian spellings, leading to such amusing spellings as "Sooftli gos mai songs entriti thru dhe nait tu dhi / In dhe sailent wuuds ai weit dhi / Com mai loof tu mi." ("Softly goes my song's entreaty through the night to thee / In the silent woods I wait thee / Come my love to me." A few handwritten corrections are made to the typed lyrics throughout; one song (Serenata Triste) written by hand in pencil. Two of the notebooks contain set lists at the beginning of the notebook, with the songs in the relevant order afterwards. Black leather and faux leather covers.
