Very uncommon group of four letters from important French composer and conductor, one of the major innovators and forces in 20th century music. Addressed to Dr. Manfred Hubricht, the letters concern the arrangement of four performances of Wozzeck in Frankfurt. Each 1 page, two in French, two in German, dated 21 May to 26 November 1966. Very uncommon AMQS from important French composer and conductor, one of the major innovators and forces in 20th century music. 20.5 x 27.5 cm page inscribed beneath a mounted halftone photograph with three detailed measures of music with text, the opening measures of his 1957 work "Improvisation sur Mallarmé" for Soprano and 7 Instruments, beginning "le vierge, le vivace, et le bel aujourd'hui," signed "avec cordial sympathie / P. Boulez." Mounted to another sheet, else fine.

Graphically interesting complete March 4, 1971 program from a performance by the important French composer and conductor, leading the BBC Sympohony Orchestra in a Munich Pro Musica Meisterzyklus performance which included Debussy's La Mer, Bartok's "Miraculous Mandarin," and Boulez's own "Eclat." A heartfelt and moving ALS from the notorious demimondaine, the celebrated beautiful dancer who left the world of ballet for the Folies Bergere, was mistress to King Léopold II and was painted and celebrated by Lautrec, Muller and Klimt. 1 1/2 pp. 8vo. To the music critic Victorin de Joncières (1839-1903), dated "Mercredi 5 Juillet, 1899," on black-bordered mourning stationery. "...I have an immense sadness having lost my dear mother who I so loved; it is the most cruel bad fortune which could have befallen me..."

Santa Fe Dining Car printed menu, dated 3-21-51, signed in blue ink on the verso by the great American bon vivant, actor and pianist. A student of Schoenberg, he was a close friend and important promoter of George Gershwin and played the role of himself in the Gershwin biopic "Rhapsody in Blue." Creases, else fine.

Remarkable 1979 French souvenir program, boldly signed by three of the most influential figures in 20th century dance, each on their respective photograph pages. The program from a performance by Les Étoiles and Le Ballet de L'Opera of Paul Taylor's "Auréole," Balanchine's "Apollon Musagete" or "Le Bourgeouis Gentilhomme" and the premiere of Nureyev's "Manfred." The signatures to Conrad Josipovici, owner of Regine's Club in Paris and sold together with two letters describing the provenance. Balanchine has inscribed "To Conrad, King of the Night!"

A remarkable souvenir program from the Ballet Russe company formed in the wake of the dissolution of Serge Diaghilev's Ballets Russes following his death in 1929. Orchestrated by the entrepreneur Colonel Wassily de Basil and billed as "Ballets Russes du Colonel W. de Basill ( De Monte Carlo)," the company's dancers were drawn largely from the Ballets de Leon Woizikowsky, augmented by artists from de Basil's own company, from Rene Blum's Ballets de Monte Carlo, and from Diaghilev's troupe.
