"Le Soleil des eaux" - Autograph Musical Quotation with Signed Photograph

Very uncommon AMQS from important French composer and conductor, one of the major innovators and forces in 20th century music. 14.5 x 10.5 cm card signed and inscribed with a quotation from his 1965 "Le Soleil des eaux" for soprano, SATB chorus and orchestra. Sold together with an original 11 x 16 cm Clive Barda photograph, signed in black ink by the composer.

Pierre Boulez completed the definitive version of Le Soleil des eaux in the year of the present AMQS, 1965, after beginning it in 1948 and reworking it several times. The original incarnation of the music was taken from fragments of incidental music scattered among a radio play by René Char. Le Soleil des eaux is part of Boulez's Char Trilogy, which also includes Le Marteau sans maître and Le Visage Nuptial. Among these three, Le Soleil des eaux (The Sun of the Waters) is the second begun and the second completed. (12316)
