Signed image of the American actress in her best-known role as delightfully evil Wicked Witch of the West, plotting with one of her monkey soldiers to destroy Dorothy, who appears in her crystal ball.  Hamilton has signed humorously: "OUT Dorothy!  Jim is next!  So get ready Jim!  Witchiest wishes!  WWW (Maggie Hamilton)."  With a note on the verso from the dedicatee, Jim Swanson. Upper edge unevenly trimmed; mounting remnants on the verso; otherwise a crisp and classic image in fine condition.  25.4 x 19.8 cm.

"The Moral Code" - Original Program and Copyright Documents

An interesting group of original copyright documents relating to the 1911 play The Moral Code, written by Herbert Thomson and produced by American songwriter and dramatist Arthur Hammerstein. Included are: an original copyright certificate from the Library of Congress (July 17, 1911; on a punched and stamped 5 x 3 card;); a bill from Strong, Buckmaster & Bolden of London for copyright charges (September 13, 1911; 8 x 9.5 inches); a signed receipt from the International Copyright Bureau to Strong, Buckmaster & Bolden for copyright fees (September 13, 1911; 7 x 4 inches); a carbon copy of a receipt for registering the play at Stationers' Hall, London (August 22, 1911; 5.5 x 8 inches); a single-sheet program for the first public copyright performance of the play, at 11:00 am on August 21, 1911 at the Adelphi Theatre, London (8.25 x 10.5 inches); and the original certificate allowing the play to be performed in Britain, signed by the Lord Chamberlain, Charles Spencer (September 3, 1911; 8.25 x 12.5 inches). Doubleweight matte photograph portrait of the American film actress and 1930's sex symbol, signed in her name most probably by her mother, "Mama Jean."  Inscribed "To Dennis Dorau, with my kindest wishes, Jean Harlow."  A striking noir image that highlights Harlow's fantastic pencilled eyebrows.  Slightly warped with creasing to one corner; otherwise in very fine condition.  20.2 x 25.3 cm.

Signed Photograph Postcard as Peter Pan

Signed photograph postcard of Scottish actress, singer, mimic, vaudevillian, and music hall performer as Peter Pan in ragged clothes, a hood, and with a knife at her belt.  Loftus played Peter Pan in the second British production of J. M. Barrie's play in 1905.  The actress has signed her name and "I'm Peter Pan!"  On the verso, a Miss Nancie L. Stafford has addressed the postcard to herself and written a note asking for Loftus' autograph for her collection.  Postmarked Liverpool, May 7, 1906.  Mounting remnants on the verso; else in very fine condition. 8.7 x 13.8 cm.

Cabinet Photograph with Two Autograph Signatures

Original cabinet photograph of the American actress and singer with her husband and frequent collaborator, the operetta composer Edward Solomon. Photographed by Falk of New York, Russell is shown looking at the camera while Solomon looks up at her from the piano. Together with an autograph signature from Russell and a clipped signature from Russell, also bearing fragments of an autograph letter referring to the couple's divorce. Below his signature, Solomon has penned a postscript: "I might add that to increase my woes, thro' the officiousness (as usual) of the American Press my wife has parted from me for ever, at least, she says so." The verso reads: "I will now close this, as I fear it will not be very interesting to you, but I will make my next fully so." Birdbrain / Sue Your Parents - Signed Record with Psychedelic Drawing

Signed copy of the Beat poet's 1981 single, recorded with the Denver-based band The Gluons. Single 33 1/3 rpm 7" vinyl disc, with original dust-sleeve, printed insert sheet and photographic outer sleeve screen-printed in colors, designed by Howard Klein. Ginsberg has signed inside the outer sleeve, dating Boulder, November 16, 1983. To the blue-and-white printed record label, he has added two psychedelic drawings: on the A side, a drawing of a triangle within a circle, with flames coming from it; on the B side, a flower with the initials A. H., stars and a snake. "A. H." refers to Albert Hofmann, the "Father of LSD"; we are aware of several other drawings by Ginsberg incorporating these initials.
