Two Oversize Pink Toy Pianos from "The Eddie Duchin Story"

Set of two matching pink toy pianos used in the 1956 film The Eddie Duchin Story, a fictionalized account of the life of the popular American pianist and bandleader known for his engaging performances, elegant musical style, and battle with leukemia. The vintage original prop "miniature" pianos are constructed of wood and paper paste-up facade components including interior and keyboard measuring 20 x 30.25 x 13 in. Expertly studio painted and finished. exhibiting some age and production wear, but in vintage very good condition. Would make a most striking statement in any music room! Signed photograph of the American actor, who won an Academy Award as Best Actor in 2009 for his portrayal of Truman Capote in the eponymous film and died tragically early.  He is depicted in a scene from Love Liza, standing on the shore of a lake or river, facing the camera with his body mostly covered by reeds.  6.5 x 4.75 inches (18.4 x 12.3 cm).  In excellent condition.

Photograph of a Member of the "Holy Family of Burma"

Portrait of Mahphoon (also spelled Mah-Phoon), a female member of a Burmese family with hereditary cases of hypertrichosis—excessive hair growth.  As typical of her time, she cruelly became a sideshow attraction and was recruited to join Barnum's circus for a tour of the United States in 1888.  The photo, with caption, "Mahphoon the Burmese hairy woman," dates from 1886, when Mahphoon was in her late sixties.  6.5 x 4.25 inches (16.5 x 10.8 cm).

"Max Steiner And His Orchestra – Great Love Themes" - SIGNED LP

A scarce signed LP record album from the Austrian-born American composer of theater and film music, known for his scores to King Kong, Casablanca, Gone with the Wind and many other films. RCA Victor LPM 1170, signed and inscribed in blue ink to the upper left verso corner of the cover and dated 1957.  The recording consists of works composed by and performed by Max Steiner and his orchestra.  The lower left corner of cover perished, upper edge partially split, but in otherwise fine condition and with the LP untested but in apparently fine condition as well. Steiner remains uncommon across all signed formats, with this example only being the second we've handled.  Read More...
