Fine postcard photograph, signed and dated 1913 by the supreme Belgian violinist. Ca. 122 x 80 mm. Edges very slightly worn; laid down to heavy brown paper with remnants of former mount to verso.


Carl Flesch called him "the most outstanding and individual violinist I have ever heard in my life," and he was the dedicatee of many major works from Debussy, Saint-Saens, Franck, Chausson and others.

Four page season prospectus programme for the historic 1910 Season of Russian Ballet at the Théâtre National de l'Opéra, including first performances ("Création") of L'Oiseau de Feu, Shéhérazade, Carnaval, and Orientales as well as performances of Cléopâtre, Le Prince Igor, Giselle, Les Sylphides and Le Festin, the interior pages giving the "Tableau de la Troupe," with "Mesdemoiselles" on the left and "Messieurs" on the right. 8" x 11", 21 cm x 27 cm. In very good condition with moderate soiling and a number of creases.

Autograph Signature "For Truth + Dreams"

Autograph signature "Yours / For Truth + Dreams / Ruth St. Denis" from the American choreographer and early pioneer of the modern dance movement in America, who founded the Denishawn dance company with her husband Ted Shawn and whose more celebrated pupils included Martha Graham, Doris Humphrey, Charles Weidman, and silent film star Louise Brooks. She published an autobiography in 1939 titled ‘An Unfinished Life.’ On an album page measuring 12 x 15.5 cm. Mounting losses to verso, small tear lower left not affecting the signature which appears along the upper edge.

"Madme. VESTRIS has the honour of announcing to the Nobility, Gentry, and Public generally, that her BENEFIT takes place on MONDAY NEXT, June 24th, on which occasion, with the view of providing the utmost novelty and attraction, she has been enabled to avail herself of the kind services of Madame Malibran, Mile. 132. [Dance] Rogers, Ginger. (1911–1995).
Collection of Autograph Notes and Letters

Collection of 13 handwritten notes/letters from Hollywood actress and dancing legend Ginger Rogers to same woman, Rogers' close personal friend Violet, whom she often referred to as "Sister." All c. 1970s, several are dated as such. One note in particular reads "Put This On Your Door Dear Violet If You Don't Wish To Be Disturbed" and has smiley face sketch by Ginger. Note comes w/4-5/8x8.75" dayglo "Do Not Disturb" sign. Another note is on "The Beverly Hills Hotel" stationery (dated Feb. 10, 1972) and mentions God and science. Another on "The Carlyle" hotel stationery (dated April 13, 1974) has Ginger asking Violet to keep something for her. Other highlights include mention of books, nightlight for apartment Violet was staying at, name and phone number of Ginger's neighbor, clothes, writing supplies, enclosed photos, food for personal stay, etc. All have been signed "Ginger." Scattered handling wear and aging, Fine to Exc. overall. A unique and personal group of items from the Academy Award-winning American film and stage actress, dancer and singer.

A striking original photograph of the celebrated ballet dancer and choreographer, a Soloist in Balanchine's New York City Ballet in the 1950-60s. 11 x 14 inches, stamped and dated August, 1959 on the verso by the important dance photographer, Zachary Freyman. Very fine.

Original black and white poster, ca. 1960, with hand gouache coloring by the unidentified artist, signed in blue ink by Louis Armstrong, probably one of the largest signatures he ever signed and almost certainly the largest signed portrait of the great Satchmo in existence! Apparently obtained at the Morris Civic Theatre in South Bend, IN in 1963. In a large recent wood frame under UV-plexiglass. Some creases to the poster, but really in great shape overall. Remarkable vintage 10 x 8 inch glossy publicity photograph of the Esquire All Stars, the first well-known integrated music ensemble, together only about a year but who opened up the white supper club circuit to black performers. Boldly signed and inscribed in green ink by Armstrong and Jack Teagarden and signed additionally in blue ink by Arnell Shaw, Earl "Fatha" Hines, Cozy Cole and Barney Bigard. Small tear to lower margin extending just to edge of Armstrong's signature, otherwise in very fine condition.

Typed letter signed from the popular American actress and singer to Mr. Edward Sothern Hipp.  Bailey thanks Hipp for his positive review of her book The Raw Pearl in the Newark News.  Dated September 30, 1968 and signed "Pearl."  Letter creases with very slight tears and discoloration to the edges; otherwise in fine condition.  8.5 x 11 inches.
