Signed Photograph, Program and Book

A striking signed photograph of the German dancer and choreographer, a very important figure in the history of German modern dance. Postcard photograph of Kreutzberg in the role of the Master of Ceremonies in Gozzi's "Turandot." Measures 9 x 14 cm and is in perfect condition. Sold together with a vintage dance program and a 1st Ed. copy of Emil Pirchan's "Harald Kreutzberg. Sein Leben und seine Tänze," (Frick, Wien, 1941; 8vo bound in blue cloth with gilt lettering), which includes 160 illustrations, 30 of them drawings by Harald Kreutzberg.

Bold Autograph Signature "To the Public of Budapest"

Bold ink autograph "W. Nijinsky" with an inscription thanking the public of Budapest ("Remerciements au public de Budapest"), nicely matted to 8 x 10 inches with a recently printed postcard of him dancing in Fokine's "Le Spectre de la rose." 14 x 9 cm. The sheet a little soiled around the edges, overall fine. Authentic signatures of Nijinsky are very rare.

"Two Pair of Priceless Feet" - Original Photograph

An unusual original doubleweight photograph of the great ballerina and great comedian, smiling with their hands on their hips, with the caption "Anna Pavlowa and Charlie Chaplin / Two Pair of Priceless Feet."  From the collection of ballerina Joan Van Wart (1900-1987) who toured with Anna Pavlova and her company, collected Pavlovaiana assiduously, and who loaned her collection to the Victoria & Albert Museum for their 1956 Pavlova Commemorative Exhibition. Creases to the corners and a thumbtack hole; notes, cropping marks, and Van Wart's signature on the verso; overall a charming image in very good condition. 8 x 10.25 inches (20.3 x 26.4 cm).

Collection of Original Sketchbooks and Drawings

An important collection of early sketchbooks and original drawings from the influential Hungarian-born French photographer, sculptor, writer, and filmmaker.  The three sketchbooks, one dated 1915, and one with drawings dated 1916, contain a total of 104 pages of pencil, ink, charcoal and watercolor drawings including portraits, animal and figure studies, architectural drawings and geometrical shapes. Some works are captioned in Hungarian. An interesting and important record of the artist's very early work, accomplished as a young man during World War I in Transylvania. Read More...

Original Drawing and Autograph Note

An amusing original drawing and autograph note from the artist and designer, illustrator of many classic children's books and the son of composer and pianist Ferruccio Busoni. Dated Mt. Vernon, December 3, 1939, the drawing shows two kneeling figures before a queen on her throne, while a turbaned man holds a decorative sign with the date. Busoni has written: "Dearest Winifred, two humble slaves send their tribute and hope you deign to accept it," and signed for himself, his wife Hannah Apfel Busoni, and their son Mario. Folding creases and tape remnants; otherwise in very good condition. 6.75 x 10 inches (17 x 25.4 cm).

Signed portrait of the French designer who earned a place as one of most influential figures in 20th century fashion.  Time magazine cover from March 4, 1957, depicting Dior with an enormous pair of scissors, 8.25 x 11, signed in the lower right in fountain pen. In very good condition, with heavy intersecting folds and creases, address label remnants to the lower left, and light contrast to portions of the signature.
