The piece's first theme and overall style are very similar to those of the settings of the same text by Fabri, Carissimi, and Cifra recorded in RISM, making it likely that this piece also originates from the rich musical world of mid-17th-century Rome. Autograph Letter to Jacques Durand

Autograph letter from the important and prolific French composer to music publisher and composer Jacques Durand, sending good wishes to Durand's wife and mentioning changes to his piano trio (1922-23) made by Alfred Cortot. Dated September 28, 1923. Translated from the French, in part: "Dear friend, Here I am in Paris, but very tired by the journey back. Hence, I postpone the pleasure of seeing you and hearing the latest news of Bel Etat until the first days of next week. Paul Dukas told me last night that it is now Mrs. Jacques Durand's health that is not so good. I hope she will recover very soon, and send all my regards to Jacques. Could you please send him my best wishes? As to the small pianistic changes Cortot made to the trio, I will very soon know the address in England where he is going to stay for two months, and you will be able to send him a copy [...] Do not bother to send me this month's payment here. I will take it at your office." 2 pp. Some light wear to the edges and one small loss; overall in very good condition. 5.25 x 8 inches (13.3 x 20.8 cm). Read More...
