A remarkable association copy inscribed from the important Italian composer, one of the central figures in the development of the "opera semiseria" at the start of the 19th century, to the most celebrated soprano of the age, likely in the year of her first appearance in Paris. Upright folio. Title; 2 - 18 pp.  Engraved throughout. Inscribed at the head of the title page in brown ink "Alla Santa, ed ... Giuditta Pasta - L'Amico suo / L'Autore." A small collection of engraved portraits depicting important European singers of the nineteenth century, published by Aubert as part of a series for the "Galerie de la Presse, de la Littérature et des Beaux Arts." The twelve singers shown are Giovanni Battista Rubini, Anna Thillon, Giovanna Rossi-Caccia ("Mlle. Rossi"), Fanny Tacchinardi Persiani, Luigi Lablache, Pauline Viardot ("Pauline Garcia"), Giulia Grisi, Julie Dorus-Gras, Laure Cinti-Damoreau, Cornélie Falcon, Mécène Marié de l'Isle ("Marié"), and Adolphe Nourrit. Notes about each singer have been made in pencil on the verso of each. Each measuring 8 x 10.75 inches (20.4 x 27.3 cm); three trimmed to 7 x 10 inches (17.5 x 25 cm) and reinforced with mounting tape on the verso. Some foxing and toning and some irregularly trimmed edges; otherwise overall in very good condition.

A small collection of hand-colored engraved portraits depicting French opera singers of the mid-nineteenth century in their celebrated roles in operas by Halevy, Auber, Rossini and Niedermeyer. Published by Maison Martinet as part of a series, "Galerie Dramatique," for the Académie Royale de Musique. The singers shown are: Rosine Stoltz as Marie in Rossini and Niedermeyer's Robert Bruce; Achille Riquier as Dominico in Auber's Haydée; Mlle. Signed Photograph Postcard

A fine hand-colored signed postcard photograph of the Italian soprano, older sister of Luisa, wife of conductor Cleofonte Campanini, and successful in many roles in the United States. Dated Milan, December 1, 1904, the postcard is inscribed to the Argentinian collector Patricia Otaño (translated from the Italian): "With great pleasure I send you my signature, hoping soon to meet you personally. Eva Tetrazzini Campanini." Her elegant half-length profile portrait is beautifully hand-colored in pink, yellow, and green, with a facsimile signature at the left. On the verso, the postcard is addressed to the Argentinian collector Ramona Imaz Otaño (the first name has been changed, presumably from Patricia -- her sister?). In very fine condition. 3.5 x 5.5 inches (8.5 x 13.7 cm).

Original program for a farewell concert given by the important Italian soprano in London on November 6, 1919. Tetrazzini, about to sail for the United States, performed at the Royal Albert Hall with Lenghi Cellini, Albert Sammons, PEter Dawson, and Pietro Cimara. The attractive Art Nouveau program includes stylized engraved and woodcut portraits of the singers. 12 pp. Overall toning and light creasing, edge wear, and some wear to the spine, but overall in very good condition. Charming autograph letter from the important nineteenth-century singer to a female friend and pianist, organizing an evening of chamber music and reporting an amusing mistake made by her maid. Dated Thursday, March 29. Translated from the French: "Dear young friend, Will you be so kind as to bring the (simple) quartet version of the Bach Concerto? I cannot find my orchestra parts any more. Don't be late -- I have had a nice Pleyel brought for you. We will play in the Galerie -- it will be charming. [...] We'll begin with the beautiful Schumann string quartet. Can you imagine, my new maid, who brought your answer yesterday evening, said [...] that you would come this evening, but that you were too tired to play... Pantomime!!!! Numéro Spécial: n°16 & 19 / 3ème année. Two special issues of the illustrated magazine dated May 15, 1911 and July 1, 1911 and including features on the Saison Russe, with pictures of Nijinsky, Cecchetti, and other dancers, and coverage of the new ballets Scheherazade and Petrouchka. An illustrated article on "La maison des danseuses" includes drawings of ballerinas Anna Pavlova, Tamar Karsavina, and Lydia Lopokova. Further articles on opera, concerts, and the theatre are supplemented with many photographs, illustrations, and advertisements. 37 pp. (480-516) and 42 pp. (600-641). Some wear to the covers, the second issue with a few small tears and the cover detached; a few clippings have been removed inside; otherwise overall in very good to fine condition. 9.5 x 12.5 inches (21.7 x 31.7 cm).

Rare original prospectus program from the 1916 - 1917 US tour of Diaghilev's Ballets Russes. The present program includes photographs of some of the principle dancers, including Nijinsky, as well as a magnificent two-page lithograph of Leon Bakst's set for "L'Apres-Midi d'un Faune." Group of autograph letters from the great dancer/choreographer, Jerome Robbins to Lincoln Kirstein, the American writer, impresario, art connoisseur, and cultural figure in New York City who, with George Balanchine, founded the New York City Ballet (first known as the "Ballet Society") in 1948. Two postcards, three notecards on his stationery, a typed letter signed, and a photocopy of a magazine article with an autograph annotation at the head, various dates, all addressed to Lincoln Kirstein and signed "Jerry."
