Rare original lifetime color portrait lithograph of the great violinist, published Paris, 16 April, 1831. The lithograph by Mantoux after the sculpted portrait by Dantan. 27 x 22 cm. Scattered spotting and flecked overall and a few small stains around the edges.
Signed card from the great soprano, "In kind rememberance of Adelina Patti / New York - November 14th 1889." Together with an original CDV photograph by Reutlinger of Paris.

Full orchestral score of this 'tragedie lyrique,' with interesting manuscript annotations from an adaptation evidently undertaken during the Revolution, with new texts written in ink (p. 185 - 195, 213-224, 292-307) beneath the printed texts. This patriotic song, probably written by emigrant Irish resistance, glorifies the French and the General Lazare Hoche of the Revolutionary army, who died in 1797. It was he who lead the Ireland Expedition of Revolutionary troops sent to assist the United Irishmen in their rebellion against British rule. A tempest, however, separated Hoche from the expedition, and after various adventures the whole fleet returned to Brest without having effected its purpose. Read More...

On the The Towers The Waldorf Astoria letterhead, Porter writes "Dear David Baker and John Morris, I just played through the recording of COLE PORTER SONGS. Your two piano arrangements and accompaniment arrangements are beautiful. I congratulate you both". Signed "Cole Porter." Nicely matted with a photograph of Porter and the two young composers.

Vintage 7.75 x 9.5 inch signed doubleweight photograph of the Brazilian opera star, one of the best-loved stars of the Met. Sayao is shown in a dreamy head and shoulders pose, boldy inscribed in French at the lower left in bright blue ink. A big of smearing to ink at date, not affecting signature.
