Scarce signed photograph from the leading violist of his time, a member of the London String Quartet and the NBC Symphony under Toscanini before embarking on an unprecedented successful solo career as violist. Vintage glossy 8 x 10 photo of Primrose posing with his viola, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To J. Willis Sayre, with best wishes from William Primrose.” In very good condition, with creasing in three corners, scattered soiling, and overall horizontal crazing to the emulsion.
