Interesting original photograph from ca. 1920, showing two men and a child riding on a parade float loaded with gramophones and decorated with pictures of musical stars. The float, advertising Boxley's Piano Store in Kimball and Columbia, bears pictures of Eugene Ysaye, Geraldine Farrar, Ernestine Schumann-Heink, and other performers. Pristine signature from the great Polish pianist, composer and statesman who was prime minister and foreign minister of the Polish Republic. Boldly signed in pencil on a small trimmed piece of stationery. Together with a photograph postcard of Paderewski, at the foot of which is a collector's autograph note and a date, November 6th, 1860, in another hand. On the verso of the postcard, a small printed anecdote about Paderewski is mounted; the card is postmarked January 2, 1903. In very fine condition. A signed copy of the oversized limited edition Skizzen & Manuskripte, one of 1000 copies, containing facsimile manuscripts by Stockhausen and sketches by the important German artist, designer and engraver Johnny Friedlaender. 8 oblong sheets (16 pp) printed on both sides (including wrappers). This example boldly signed by Stockhausen to the inside front cover page (also including a printed graphically notated score extending to the inner rear wrapper) and inscribed to Hans Adler, German-South African musicologist and classical music promoter, with thanks for his 1971 tour of South Africa. The score contains some performer's notes and annotations, printed wrappers with light staining and a few short tears around the edges, light handling creases, else fine. 11.5 x 16.25 inches [29 x 41 cm].
Original 1940's photograph of Duke Ellington's band in performance, signed by alto sax player Johnny Hodges and trumpeter and violinist Ray Nance. Ellington is seen from behind seated at an upright piano. Hodges is visible just over his right shoulder and has signed along the upper area of the photograph, with Nance signing on his image at the left. We have not previously seen this wonderful image. 10 x 8 inches. Mounting remnants on verso, small areas of surface loss and creasing to corners, else very good.

An LP of piano music by Aaron Copland, with Copland on the cover. Signed and inscribed by Copland in pen "with affection" to Elliot Carter and his wife, Helen, and dated 1978. Jacket in fine condition, the LP untested. An extraordinary association.
Copland and Carter, though very different stylistically, are widely regarded to be the two greatest American composers ever, perhaps with the addition of Charles Ives and George Gershwin.
Signed photograph postcard of the great Russian bass, with the original stamp of the photographer, Rob Johansons of Riga. Chaliapin has signed boldly at the lower right, adding the date 1930. 8.5 x 13.5 cm. A fine uninscribed example.
