New York: Albert and Charles Boni. 1925. Publisher's full cloth. Rubbing, soiling, and wear to extremities. Spine ends and corners bumped and showing. Cloth on head and tail pieces fraying. Small open tear on lower edge of title page. Toning on edges. Large open tears with loss and affecting text on pp. 65-68. Small black mark on p. 181. Minor creases on lower corners of pp. 181-188. Age-toning and occasional thumbsoiling throughout. Inscribed and signed by the author on the ffe.

Autograph letter from the important Polish composer, signed "Witold Lutoslawki." 2 pp. April 12, 1960. Addressed to the composer Jacques Chailley (1910 - 1999), in French, translated in part: "Dear Friend, Infinite thanks for your text which was received through the intermediary of the Embassy. We are proud and honored to have you among the authors of "Horisons de la Musique." The next broadcast (tomorrow) will be devoted entirely to you, which is to say that after the conference there will be a small concert of your recorded works. We have much regretted, with my wife, not to see you on more occasions in Warsaw. Absolutely, one is too occupied in our era and the greatest pleasures escape us all the time!" Original 1901 Concert Program

Vienna concert program (single sheet flyer, ca. 9,5 x 6 inch), January 13, 1901. Gustav Mahler conducting the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra with Mendelssohn's Symphony in A minor Nr.3 (Scottish) and Tschaikovsky's Manfred Symphony (the Viennese First perf.). At the bottom is an advertisement for the upcoming performance of Mahler conducting Beethoven's Ninth. Excellent condition. Original programs from Mahler's illustrious Viennese tenure are quite scarce.

Held in the original illustrated folder, each portrait measuring 25 x 32.5 cms on heavy paper. The musicians portrayed are: Eugen d'Albert, Hugo Becker, Carl Flesch, Arthur Nikisch, Richard Strauss, and Felix v. Weingartner. Uncommon. Worldcat lists only one copy.

An attractive half-length portrait by Gérard Neuvecelle of Paris, depicting the two great musicians smiling and holding hands. Ca. 180 x 238 mm. With handstamp of photographer's studio to verso. Slightly worn, soiled and bumped.


This beautiful photograph testifies to Callas’ warm relationship with Bernstein at the end of her career. In the introduction to the 1983 PBS Tribute to Callas on the Anniversary of her Death, Bernstein called Callas “The Bible of opera.”

Signed vintage doubleweight photograph of the great soprano in one of her most celebrated roles, "Geraldine Farrar / 1946 / Butterfly." 10 x 17 cm and in very fine condition.



Farrar sang the American premiere of Cio-Cio-San opposite Caruso at the Metropolitan Opera in 1907, and it remained one of her signature roles until her retirement in 1922, with 139 performances in New York and on tour.
