"Introducing the Sophia Collection" - Signed Fragrance Collection Advertising

Signed advertising brochure for Sophia, a fragrance released in 1980 under the name of the legendary Italian actress. Loren is shown in a black-and-white photograph on the cover of the brochure and has signed ("Sophia") and inscribed at the left to Paul McMahon. The inside pages offer an amusing list of fragrance "do's" and "don'ts," such as "Fill your rooms with your personal 'trademark fragrance' by putting a few drops of cologne on lightbulbs." Collection of Autograph Sheet Music

A large archive of original handwritten sheet music, over 200 pp. total, for songs from the stage shows of the beloved comedy duo Laurel and Hardy. Undated [ca. 1940–1954], and in various hands, some stamped by arrangers/copyists Harold G. Lindoft, Norman G. Burlingame, and Carlton Kelsey. The collection comprises fairly complete sets of orchestral parts for numbers including the "Fanfare and Opening" from one of their shows, "Jitter Conga," "Merry Oldsmobile," "We Know All the Answers," and "Cupid is a Stinker," as well as a large number of unsorted orchestral parts for "Laugh at Troubles," "Lazy Moon," "Ferry Boat Serenade," "Chrysanthemum," "Policeman's Waltz," and other songs. Also included are 9 folders containing parts used by string players, labeled on the cover of each with the clipped text "Laurel and Hardy" and a clipped color image of the comedians, and containing string parts copied in various different hands for several short numbers: "Ginger You're Balmy," "Nuts in May," "I'm Cuckoo," "Jolly Good Fellow," "Cock Robin," and other music to be played "according to [stage] business." The parts are in good condition overall, some with toning and toned tape repairs, and with extensive markings from use, including annotations, added musical excerpts, taped-on additional pieces of music, etc. Each page ca. 9 x 12.5 inches. Five Concert Programs

Five original concert programs from performances by the beloved actress and singer. Included are programs from a November 1951 performance in "Palace Two-A-Day" at the RKO Palace Theatre; a September 1956 performance at the RKO Palace Theatre; a May 1959 performance at the Metropolitan Opera House to benefit the Children's Asthma Research Institute; a May 21, 1961 performance at Carnegie Hall; and her October 7, 1961 performance "An Evening with Judy Garland" at the Mosque Theatre, Newark. In very good condition overall, some with toning and partial spine tears.

Group of four large original exhibition photographs of Native American actors of the 1920's. Included are portraits of Chief Clear Sky (a mirror-image print of another extant photograph, identified on the verso in pencil), Chief Luxosier (Billie Harris, identified on the verso in pencil), Anapole Del Vando ("Morning Sky" in the Mission Players; identified at the foot and dated August 1925 on the verso), and Privida Mojardo ("Red Wing" in the Mission Players of San Gabriel; identified in ink on the verso). All signed or stamped in the print by the photographer, Ervin Willard Spurr, and the last stamped with credit stamp on the verso. Included are portraits of Chief Clear Sky (a mirror-image print of another extant photograph), Chief Luxosier (English name Billie Harris), Chief Big Tree (two photographs), and "Morning Sky" of the Mission Players of San Gabriel (also known as Poppy Nistfall, or possibly Anapole Del Vando). Most stamped or signed in the image by the photographer, E. Willard Spurr; each actor identified on the verso, two with credit stamps from the photographer also to the verso. Three large exhibition photographs of Native Americans, one signed by the Cheyenne actor Chief Thunder Bird to the photographer, E. Willard Spurr. The photographs depict Thunderbird (dated 1927), Chief Clear Sky, and another Native American actor in a feathered headdress. The photograph of Chief Thunder Bird is signed and inscribed at the lower right: "To E. Willard Spurr, artist. Your friend Thunder Bird, Cheyenne." The photograph of an unidentified man is signed at the foot: "E. Willard Spurr, 'artist.' Pasadena, Calif. 1925." Each photograph stamped by Spurr in the image, with two of them blind-stamped in the lower margin. Two with a small corner loss, partially affecting the inscription; one with a stain at the left. The 1958 Western Gunman's Walk starred Hunter as Ed Hackett, the hot-tempered young man who makes advances on a beautiful French-Sioux woman, and then murders her brother. The film saw Hunter at the height of his popularity, and he considered it his favorite role.
