Some silvering to the photograph, but with the inscription and signature very bold and sold together with the original transmissal envelope, addressed in Caruso's hand and postmarked from "Habana, Cuba."

Original bamboo and wicker chair used as set decoration in Rick's Café, the café and illegal gambling establishment run by Humphrey Bogart as Rick Blaine in the classic 1942 Warner Bros. film Casablanca. These style of bamboo framed, wicker covered chairs can be seen throughout the café during the film. In fine condition, accompanied by a framed reprint Casablanca set photograph, showing similar chairs in situ.  34 inches high. Expected wear to wicker, overall fine condition. In the photo, he can be seen leaning against a grand piano and holding a lit cigarette in his left hand. Sold together with the original envelope in which this was sent in 1958 to Gregory Marshak, close friend of the great cellist who, the previous year, had been instrumental in organizing the first "Concours Pablo Casals." 4.75 x 8 inches fully opened.
