An interesting oversized original portrait photograph of the great Russian composer showing only the back of his balding head, as photographed by the award-winning American photographer and photojournalist Leigh Wiener ca. 1950's. Double-weight semi-gloss print with photographer credit ink stamp and the note "Stravinsky Fore & Aft" on the verso. Significant creases along upper and lower edges with some surface cracks along the bottom, staple at the upper left corner tip, and handling from production use. 9 5/8" X 12 3/8" inches.
Three interesting original press photographs of the Russian scientist most famous for his invention of the theremin, one of the first electronic musical instruments. Two of the photographs, stamped 1930 on the verso, show him demonstrating the theremin around the time of its introduction to U.S. audiences; the third picture, stamped 1928, shows him using another device, for altitude measurement. Autograph musical manuscript fragment from the great violinist, bearing an elaborate cadenza for his Fantaisie sur "I Lombardi" (op. 29, no. 1). Penned on manuscript paper, the cadenza of three measures contains an ornamented upward scale from G sharp to high D, followed by a long staccato descending passage and a further lyrical descending passage, ending on low A. Two further alternate passages of one and two measures are penned at the foot and lower right. Vieuxtemps' distinctive signature is partially visible at the upper right, but mostly obscured by the trimming of the fragment. The work is identified in pencil on the verso.
