A signed copy of the oversized limited edition Skizzen & Manuskripte, one of 1000 copies, containing facsimile manuscripts by Stockhausen and sketches by the important German artist, designer and engraver Johnny Friedlaender. 8 oblong sheets  (16 pp) printed on both sides (including wrappers). This example boldly signed by Stockhausen to the inside front cover page (also including a printed graphically notated score extending to the inner rear wrapper) and inscribed to Hans Adler, German-South African musicologist and classical music promoter, with thanks for his 1971 tour of South Africa. The score contains some performer's notes and annotations, printed wrappers with light staining and a few short tears around the edges, light handling creases, else fine. 11.5 x 16.25 inches [29 x 41 cm].

A rare original photograph of three great figures of twentieth-century opera and classical music, in the recording studio ca. 1959, for their famous recording of Rosenkavalier on EMI. EMI producer, and Schwarzkopf's husband, Walter Legge, is seen in the center of the group, as is Heinrich Schmidt  - who served as Repetiteur for the recording - to the right of Karajan. 6.5 x 8.5 inches, stamped on the verso by the photographer Maiteny-London.  Fine.

Autograph Note

An affectionate autograph note from the French composer best known for his operas Mignon and Hamlet and as Director of the Conservatoire de Paris from 1871 until his death. Dated April 19, 1868. To an unidentified woman, he writes: "How grateful I am, Madame, for the charming souvenir!" He will be "always loyal and devoted" to this lady and looks forward to seeing her on the following day. One folding crease and a slight smudge; overall in fine condition. 4 x 5.25 inches (10.4 x 13.5 cm).

A very interesting autograph letter in English from the daughter of Franz Liszt who became the second wife of Richard Wagner and, after his death, the director of the Bayreuth Festival for 31 years. Addressed to Elisabeth [lacking salutation], the letter gives news of events surrounding her recent wedding to Wagner. 4 pages, 8vo, written on a folded sheet; horizontal folds. Large commemorative metal plate, ca. 1900, honoring the composer. Signed with an unidentified monogram HS, the composer right facing bust portrait encircled in garland and in an elaborate decorative outer border of heads and twisting vines. Hanging hardware on verso, a little tarnished in places, but overall very striking indeed. 17 inches [43 cm] in diameter.

Striking original poster from a 1950's performance of Louis Armstrong and his All Stars at the Waterford, CT Speed Bowl. Armstrong, pictured blowing his trumpet, appeared "in person" with his all-star band of Billy Kyle, Danny Barcelona, Trummy Young, Mort Herbert, and Barney Bigard, each of whom is shown in a diamond in the lower half of the poster, on August 23rd of an unnamed year. 14 x 22 inches. A few nicks and indentations at the edges, upper right corner bent, else fine.

Postcard reproduction of the colorful American artist's portrait of Satchmo, boldly signed at the head in blue ink by Neiman. Neiman made several drawings and paintings of the great jazz trumpeter, of which this is a particularly vibrant example. Signed Program from 1959 Tel Aviv Concert

Original program from Louis Armstrong's April 1959 appearance in Tel Aviv, boldly signed in green ink on the cover. The program, in French and Hebrew, contains multiple pictures of Armstrong and his All Stars, a biographical article about the great trumpeter, advertising and information about the following performances of the season (Edith Piaf, The Weavers, the Delta Rhythm Boys, and the Hazy Osterwald Band.) Dated on the cover: April 14, 1959. 24 pp. Overall toning, especially to the internal pages, and light foxing to the cover, with some edge wear and a slight chip to the signature; overall in very good condition. 9.5 x 8.5 inches (24.5 x 22 cm.). Most unusual!

Original recording of the jazz trumpet legend and the multilingual singer-guitarist from their spring 1956 recording sessions in Baden-Baden, Germany, together with a recent computer reproduction 11 x 14 photograph of the two musicians in the studio - Valente's fingers stretching for a chord while Baker looks reflective. On the A side is "I'll Remember April," and on the B side "Evr'y Time We Say Goodbye," both intimate tracks showcasing Valente's voice and Baker's gentle background licks. From the collection of the photographer who shot the recording session and captured the image.

1967 Richard Avedon First-Edition Psychedelic Beatles Posters - Complete Set of Four

Complete high-grade set of four first-edition psychedelic Beatles posters created by noted photographer Richard Avedon in 1967. These posters were commissioned by NEMS, the Beatles' management company, with distribution rights granted to different parties based upon locality. LOOK magazine handled the distribution in the United States, the Daily Express Newspaper in England, and Stern magazine in Europe. All of the posters were printed in 1967, but different printers were used for each distribution locale. The offered set was distributed by Stern for sale in Germany. Each poster features the respective band member's name in the lower left corner, followed by "Fotografiert von Richard Avedon für Stern." The printing in the lower right corner reads "Copyright by NEMS Enterprises Ltd. All rights reserved. Published and distributed exclusively under license from Cowles Education Corporation in co-operation with Richard Avedon Posters, Inc. and from Maximus Enterprises Ltd. Limited First Edition. Printed in England by Waterlow & Sons Ltd. Alle Rechte für Deutschland, Österreich Schweiz bei. Populare Propaganda Presse Düsseldorf." All of the posters (19 x 27 inches), which have been individually mounted upon a white cardboard backing, display a few extremely light surface wrinkles (visible only upon extremely close inspection from certain angles) and are otherwise in apparent Near Mint condition. Each poster has been individually framed to total dimensions of 23.25 x 31.25 inches. This is an exceptional high-grade original framed set that is ready to hang.

Souvenir Program from a 1974 Joint Concert

Original souvenir program from a 1974 joint concert of the ex-Beatle and the renowned Indian musician, with fantastic psychedelic graphics, many pictures, biographies of the Eastern and Western ensemble members, and texts on Indian music and instruments. Shankar and Harrison's collaboration led to the albums Shankar Family & Friends and Ravi Shankar's Music Festival from India. This concert, given in aid of the Appalachian Regional Hospitals, was most likely part of the ensemble's late-1974 tour of North America. 20 pp. with an additional page inserted with the biographies of further musicians. In fine condition. 11.5 x 9 inches (29.2 x 22.8 cm).

An translucent 15" Ludwig Weather Master drumhead, autographed by three of the Fab Four! Signed by George Harrison in black felt-tip in 1992, then signed by Ringo (also in black felt-tip), and Paul (in blue marker) later in 2015. A fantastic group of signatures, attractively grouped together on a drumhead made by the manufacturer most closely associated with the Beatles. In very good condition, the signatures untouched, light wear shows to a few other spots of the head.
