Early signed 8 x 10 inch press photograph of the influential American jazz composer and pianist who has experimented with time signatures throughout his career, recording "Pick Up Sticks" in 6/4, "Unsquare Dance" in 7/4, and "Blue Rondo à la Turk" in 9/8. Signed 8 x 10 inch photograph of the American singer of ballads and bandleader of the swing era. Eckstine's smooth baritone and distinctive vibrato broke down barriers throughout the 1940s, first as leader of the original bop big-band, then as the first romantic black male in popular music. He is described on this publicity photograph as "The Bronze Balladeer with the Golden Voice." Surface losses to verso, handling creases and light stains, otherwise good.

Vintage glossy 10 x 8 photo of Ellington posing with his entire band, signed in fountain pen by the legendary lineup of Sonny Greer, Art Whetsol, Juan Tizol, Harry Carney, Johnny Hodges, Barney Bigard, Cootie Williams, and Joe Nanton. Reverse bears notes from the original recipient stating signatures were obtained on March 13, 1937, at the Saturday Night Swing broadcast. In very good condition, with old tape to corners, missing corner tips, ink notation to bottom, some scattered creases, and soiling and adhesive remnants to edges.

He also was an excellent interpreter of classical music and made fine recordings of the Mozart Cto. and the Mozart Quintet with the Budapest Quartet.
