Autograph manuscript fragment in the hand of Aaron Copland. A section of Benjamin Britten's "Soirées Musicales" which Copland wrote out and apparently gave to trumpet player Donald Lipsey in preparation for a Copland-conducted performance of this work. On a fragment of manuscript paper 24 x 16 cm, 20 measures written in pencil on both sides, identified at "Tirolese Benjamin Britten" on one side and also with "Tacet" scrawled below. Autograph Letter to D'Annunzio

Autograph letter from the great dancer and choreographer - one of the major inovators of the medium. In this brief but interesting letter she writes that "To work is the only life in this sad life," and signs "Isadora." Monte-Carlo, n.d.. To a friend, apparently the Italian poet and novelist, Gabriele D'Annunzio (1863 -1938) [originally in a collection of his correspondence]. 1 p. 8vo, letterhead of the the Hotel de Paris. In part: "Je reviendrai bientôt. Vous avez toujours les plus douces pensées de mon cœur. Travaillez c'est la seule vie dans cette triste vie."

Boldly inscribed in pencil "In Friendship DUNC" and then again in full beneath "Isadora Duncan." 4 x 6 inches, nicely matted and framed to 11 x 13 inches overall. From the collection of the English playwright, composer, director, actor and singer, Noel Coward, originally acquired at one of the 1975 Sotheby's sales of items from his collection.
