Signed 9.5 x 12.5 inch Bloom of Chicago photograph of the American jazz singer, bandleader and dancer, who has inscribed "To Carol, Best Wishes, Yeah Man, Cab Calloway.”  Signed photographs of Calloway in this size are uncommon.  Trimmed edges, a crease to the upper left, and silvering to the background, else fine.

"All Star Sepian Revue" - 1930's Cotton Club Table Mallet

An original green wooden mallet from the legendary jazz club, printed on the handle with the words "BILL ROBINSON & CAB CALLOWAY / AN ALL STAR SEPIAN REVUE / COTTON CLUB / BWAY AT 48th STREET / Circle 7-1000".  It was the custom at the Cotton Club to show approval of the performers by rapping on the tables with this type of small wooden hammer.  Some light wear; overall fine. Mallet head measures 1.5 inches; length measures 6.75 inches.

"The Swankiest, Swingiest, Singiest Sepian Revue" - 1930's Cotton Club Table Mallet and Postcard Photograph

An original wooden mallet from the legendary jazz club, printed on the handle with the words "Cotton Club / Bway at 48th Street / Circle 7-1000 / JAMMED SESSIONS NIGHTLY / The Swankiest, Swingiest, Singiest Sepian Revue".  Together with a modern reprint postcard photograph of the illuminated exterior of the club, which shows the marquee advertising appearances by Bill Robinson and Cab Calloway.  It was the custom at the Cotton Club to show approval of the performers by rapping on the tables with this type of small wooden hammer.  Some light wear; overall fine.  Mallet measures 6.75 inches in length; postcard 4 x 5.5 inches.

An original 1930's album containing 88 autograph signatures of jazz musicians, sporting figures and other personalities. The musicians represented include Coleman Hawkins, Johnny Desmond, Gene Krupa, Bid Sid Catlett, Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, "Hot Lips" Page, Cab Calloway, Anita O'Day, Roy Eldridge, Woody Herman, Les Brown, and many more. The album with a two-ring binding, with some signatures signed directly onto the album leaves and others clipped and mounted, some on larger folded sheets. 31 pages of autographs, with further blank pages in the middle; on the last several pages, all the grades from the owner's report cards from 1930 to 1943 are meticulously recorded! An inscription to the owner on the verso of the title page dates the album to 1931. Light toning and edge wear; overall in fine condition. 6.25 x 4.5 inches (15.8 x 11.7 cm).

Group of 1930's Matchbook Covers

Group of four colorful 1930's night-club and jazz-related matchbook covers. Included are covers advertising Cab Calloway, with a portrait and a brief text about him; Bill "Bojangles" Robinson, with a facsimile of his signature and the line "Everything is Copesetic"; Issy Bushkoff's Creole Revue at the Club Esquire; and the Cotton Club, with a drawing of African dancers. Folding creases and staple marks with some light wear; overall very good. Each ca. 1.5 x 4.5 inches (4 x 11.5 cm). An evocative grouping of ephemera!
