Uncommon AMQS from the great Belgian Soprano who studied with Viardot before going on to win acclaim throughout Europe as one of the greats of her era. On Meyerbeer's recommendation, she starred at the Paris Opera and appeared regularly in Italy, Germany, and England. In 1868 she went to Russia and became friends with Tchaikovsky, who eventually proposed marriage to her. She rejected him and - with tragic consequences - he married another, later saying that Artot was the only woman he ever wanted to marry. Autograph letter of recommendation from the important violinist and influential pedagogue, teacher of Elman, Heifetz, Milstein, Zimbalist, Parlow, Schumsky and many others! 1 page, dated 8.7.1914. Addressed to Herbert Butler at the American Conservatory in Chicago and sold with the original transmissal envelope. The body of the letter in a slightly different ink from the signature and likely in the hand of secretary, though the signature is of Auer himself. The condition of the letter marred by several large ink stains (the same shade as Auer's signature!), which have been stabbed through, creating two torn areas on the letter. Read More...

Abbott and Costello will forever hold a special place in the hearts and minds of all baseball fans by virtue of their classic comedy routine “Who’s on First?” Offered here is an extremely rare signed vintage 1956 RCA Victor 78-rpm recording of their famous routine. The album has been signed in blue ink by both Bud and Lou on the record’s "side 2" label. This particular record was apparently specially produced for the Baseball Hall of Fame, as noted by the printing on the label which reads “Abbott and Costello’s ‘Who’s on First?’ – Presented to National Baseball Hall of Fame Museum – Cooperstown, N. Y. – 1956.” Lou Costello died in 1959, so there was only a very short window for other examples of this 1956 album to possibly be signed. This is one of only a few examples of this extremely rare signed record we have ever seen. The record displays some chipping to a small area along the outer rim, as well as a few minor scratches. In Very Good condition overall. Together with its original brown paper sleeve.

Caruso is seen in one of his signature roles. His recording of "Vesti la giubba" was the first record to sell one million copies and this may be the most iconic of all opera photographs.
