Unusual still-life carte de visite photograph, ca. 1880s, of a mouse ensnared in an intricate homemade mouse trap.  The peculiar trap has been arranged in an open facing box, with an open pocket knife perched on top and adding to the somewhat threatening and surreal nature of the composition.  Photographer's stamp to verso.  Light scratching to surface and mild toning throughout; overall fine.  Photograph 2.5 x 4.25 inches (6.35 x 10.8 cm.); matted to an overall size of 8 x 10 inches (20.3 x 25.4 cm.).

Signed Military Doctument

Partially printed military document bearing the Royal Seal and signed by Queen Victoria.  July 2, 1849.  The document appoints Alexander Edgar McGregor Gent to the rank of Lieutenant in the 69th Regiment of Foot, and has been embossed with an additional seal reading "One Pound Ten Shillings."  A London postmark to recto is dated December 22, 1849.  Three vertical creases and some light foxing, else in fine condition.  13.9 x 9.6 inches (35.3 x 24.4 cm.).

Original bamboo and wicker chair used as set decoration in Rick's Café, the café and illegal gambling establishment run by Humphrey Bogart as Rick Blaine in the classic 1942 Warner Bros. film Casablanca. These style of bamboo framed, wicker covered chairs can be seen throughout the café during the film. Letter Sending New Year's Greetings while under House Arrest

Manuscript document signed on behalf of the Queen (“Marie Antoinette") and countersigned, both signatures by her secretary Pierre Jean Baptiste Beaugeard, 1 page, folio, Paris, 31 January 1791, to her cousin, thanking him for his New Year greetings and assuring him of her affections. Dispatch slits, overall in very fine condition and with a scarce paper seal depicting Marie Antoinette’s coat of arms present to the lower left. Matted and framed with an engraved portrait "MARIE ANTOINETTE - JOSEPH. JEANNE (d'Autriche)...Gravé d'après un Dessin de Moreau)". Visible area of letter and portrait, each 8 x 12 inches (20.3 x 30.5), overall 21 x 16 inches (53.3 x 40.6). Wooden Tea Table from the Stravinsky Collection

Wooden tea table owned by the Stravinsky family, ca. late 18th/early19th c., likely acquired in California ca. 1940, where it was very much a part of daily life.  Stravinsky and his wife Vera used this table for their afternoon tea and patience games, as well as evening drinks.  Smoking accompanied all of these activities, and the cigarette burns scattered across the surface of the table were deliberately preserved when the table was refinished in 2009.  40 inches in diameter plus two nesting extension leaves.
