Original photograph and autograph signature of the great Italian tenore di grazia, mounted together in an elaborate taupe colored mat with a windowpane design. Schipa is shown as photographed by Fernand de Gueldig of Chicago, and has signed on a small leaf: "Best wishes from Tito Schipa, 1935." Signature with one vertical crease; overall in very fine condition, though likely impossible to extricate from the current presentation. Photograph 6 x 9 inches (15 x 22 cm); signature 4.75 x 3.5 inches (12.4 x 9 cm); total size 16.5 x 14 inches (42 x 35.7 cm).

A page removed from a 1966 New York City Ballet performance of Balanchine's celebrated ballet, the first wholly original evening-length ballet he choreographed in America. Signed by the celebrated ballerina who danced the role of Titania (alternating performances with Suzanne Farrell) and opposite a fabulous cast which included, among others, Suki Schorer, Patricia McBride, and Edward Villella. 14 x 23 cm. A few creases, otherwise fine.

Original Constantinople CDV Photograph of Dervishes

A rare and very interesting carte de visite photograph of four dervishes, photographed by Basile Kargopoulo of Constantinople and dated on the verso, 1880. Members of a Muslim religious order founded in the 12th century, here while one of the men plays a flute, another stands with his arms flung wide, as if in the midst of the sort of whirling dance ritual for which the group is best known. On the original photographer's mount with toning and some small spots and scratches, but overall in fine condition. 4 x 2.5 inches (10.5 x 6.4 cm).

8 x 10 Maurice Seymour photograph, boldly signed by the great English ballet dancer and choreographer, a star in Diaghilev's Ballets Russes, who later went on to dance with Alicia Markova in the Vic-Wells Ballet and later in the Markova-Dolin Ballet. Several small creases, with one larger diagonal crease, signature slightly smudged but overall presentable.

Autograph Bill for a Ballet Danced Before Napoleon I

Autograph document signed by the French ballet dancer, ballet master, violinist, and composer, listing the dancers who "had the honor of performing the Quadrille before Their Imperial and Royal Highnesses at the Tuileries Palace on February 17, 1806." Signed by Gardel and by the First Chamberlain to Napoleon I, Auguste Laurent, comte de Rémusat, the document lists several celebrated dancers of the era, including the "dieu de la danse" Auguste Vestris and Marie Taglioni, the first ballerina credited with dancing truly en pointe. While Vestris, Mme. Gardel and Emilie Bigottini were in the employ of the Emperor, the document shows that the sixteen other dancers were each paid between 72 and 240 francs for this engagement. Original press photograph ca. 1945 showing the former Prima Ballerina of the Imperial and State theatres of Moscow and St. Petersburg and wife of Nikolai Legat, teaching a class of dancers. She founded the Legat School of Ballet in Kent, the oldest residential ballet school in England, in 1939. A lovely image full of movement, in fine condition. 20.5 x 15.3 cm.
