Ropartz, Joseph Guy Marie. (1864 - 1955). Requiem pour soli, chœurs et orchestre. Chant et piano. SIGNED PRESENTATION COPY. Paris: Durand & Cie. [1938]. First Edition. Folio. 56 pp. Signed and inscribed on the title to one of the singers from a Poitiers performance of the work: "Mademoiselle Chevalier / En Souvenir reconnaissant de l'audition qu'elle a donnée de cette oeuvre a Poitiers. J. Guy Ropartz." Card wrappers toned, else in fine condition throughout. Sold together with an unsigned copy of a Ropartz work frequently paired with the Requiem, "Psaume 129 : De profundis : pour basse solo, chœur mixte et orchestre" (Paris: Durand, 1941), 11pp.

An uncommon signed score from the influential French composer and composer, student of Dubois, Franck and Massenet, and close friend of Enesco. The Requiem, very much in the sound world of the more well known Requiem of Fauré, was composed in 1937/38 and intended to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the armistice of 11 November, 1938. It was slightly delayed and first performed at Angers the 19th of March, 1939.
