Signed photograph of the supreme violinist, shown in a classic pose with his violin. Signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "To Corbin Patrick—with all good wishes, Jascha Heifetz, Indianapolis, Nov. 13, 1938.” In very good to fine condition, with some emulsion staining to the upper left corner.
John Corbin Patrick was a fixture of the Indianapolis arts community, beginning his journalism career at the Indianapolis Star in 1925 and remaining with the paper until 1988 after more than 60 years of service. Patrick spent most of those 60 years as the Star’s Drama Editor, and during his long tenure, debatably the longest tenure of a Drama Editor at a single paper, helped shape the Indianapolis Arts community. Among other things, he campaigned successfully for an Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.
