A fine original pen and ink portrait of the American actress, by the Hungarian-Canadian artist Janos Buda, signed boldly in black ink "Jayne Mansfield" and by the artist "Buda" in blue ink (later), with the date 2 August, 1957 lower right. In fine condition, evidently a portrait after the theatrical release poster and telephone scene in the 1957 American satirical comedy film Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?, starring Mansfield. 7 x 8.75 inches (18 x 22 cm).
Mansfield was an actress, singer, nightclub entertainer, and Playboy Playmate. A sex symbol of the 1950s and early 1960s while under contract at 20th Century Fox, Mansfield was known for her well-publicized personal life and publicity stunts. Her film career was short-lived, but she had several box-office successes and won a Theatre World Award and a Golden Globe Award.
