Zimbalist, Efrem. (1890 - 1985). Signed Photograph. Signed doubleweight Vajda of Budapest photograph from the important violinist and pedagogue, an Auer student who went on to have a major performing career and to become the long-time director of the Curtis Institute of Music. He came out of retirement in 1952 to give the world premiere of Menotti's Violin Concerto which was dedicated to him. Among his pupils were Oscar Shumsky and Felix Slatkin. Signed and inscribed boldly in black ink "To Siegfried H. Kahn from his old friend Efrem Zimbalist / 1932." 6.5 x 8.5 inches. Fine.

Siegfried H. Kahn was a member of the famed New York Bohemian Club and a famous host of musical parties in the 1920s and 30s.
