Autograph musical quotation, undoubtedly the most famous music ever penned by the German composer - the iconic opening measures of the chorus "O Fortuna," from his "Carmina Burana." On an index card (12.5 x 8 cm), the first four chords, written out on a single staff, inscribed with a large "O" over the first chord, then continuing below "Fortuna - / Velut luna -" and "Carmina Burana," signed "Carl Orff" on the verso. Accomplished late in life by the composer, in very bold black ink and in very fine condition.
