Mewburn Levien, Mr. William Wallace, and Mr. A. T. Cummings of the Royal Philharmonice Society. Selections of the program are listed on recto.
Sold together with another Society Of Women Musicians programme, typewritten on thin carbon paper. This programme is dated, May 28th, 1921, and featuring The Spencer Dyke String Quartet. Some creases to both, condition generally fine.
The great English pianist Fanny Davies was a student of Clara Schumann. She was particularly admired in Beethoven, Schumann, and Brahms, but was also one of the first to perform Debussy and Scriabin in London. A prominent feminist, Davies was also president of the Society for Women Musicians, the ensemble an early force in promoting visibility to composers unjustly neglected, whether for geographical, social or gender reasons.
