Schumann, Robert. (1810–1856). Davidsbündlertänze für das Pianoforte...Opus  6.  Heft  2.. Leipzig: Friese. [1837]. First edition. Upright folio. Titlepage lithographed in red, music engraved. 14 pp. Modern quarter blue morocco over marbled boards. Interior hinge and edges of title repaired, otherwise fine. McCorkle p. 24.

A rare copy of the second volume of Schumann's "Davidsbündlertänze" ("Dances of the League of David"), Op. 6, being the final nine of this group of eighteen characteristic pieces for solo piano composed in 1837. The low opus number is misleading: the work was written after Carnaval, Op. 9, and the Symphonic Studies, Op. 13. The work is widely regarded as one of Schumann's greatest achievements and as one of the greatest piano works of the Romantic era.
