Sarasate, Pablo de. (1844–1908). Signed Note on Visiting Cards mentioning Sivori. Autograph signed note penned across two printed visiting cards from the great Spanish violinist/composer. Both cards mounted to a slightly larger page, the letter begun on the printed recto of the upper card and continued and signed on the blank verso of the second. "Very happy with what you tell me of Mme. Dyer [violinist], my dear Master, and I thank you in advance with all of my heart for all that you want to do for her. Your sincerely devoted and great admirer, P. de Sarasate. [postscript] How is Sivori? Please say hello to him on my behalf." Together with a vintage postcard photograph. Each card measures 2 x 3.5 inches, overall album page measures 4.5 x 7 inches, rather soiled and rippled.

The addressee of this effusive note from Sarasate may be Henri Vieuxtemps (1820 - 1881), Belgian composer and violinist who occupies an important place in the history of the violin as a prominent exponent of the Franco-Belgian violin school during the mid-19th century and who lived in Paris from 1877. Though this is purely speculation, the addressee it is clearly a great violinist held in very high regard by one of the undisputed great violinists in history. Sarasate also inquires after Camillo Sivori (1815 - 1894), the Italian virtuoso violinist and composer who was Paganini's only student and who lived in Paris at the same time as Vieuxtemps.
