Rossini, Gioacchino. (1792-1868). Double Signed CDV Photograph to Brandus. Very fine original CDV photograph, signed by the composer on the lower blank margin and additionally signed and inscribed on the verso: "Souvenir / de Sympathie e / de Reconnaissance / offert / a Mr. G. Brandus / G. Rossini / Paris 16 Janv. 1867." 10 x 6.5 cm, in very fine condition.

Inscribed approximately one month before the composer's 75th birthday, during the period of his orchestration of his Petite Messe Solennelle. The recipient of the inscription, Gemmy Brandus, was one of the most important music publishers in Paris during the second half of the 19th century and published Rossini's Petite Messe in 1869 shortly after the composer's death.
