Les Animaux modèles (Model Animals) is a ballet in one act based on the fables of La Fontaine and with choreography and libretto by Serge Lifar. This was the third and last of Poulenc's ballets and was written in France during World War II. First performed on August 8, 1942, the dedicatee of the present copy created the role of L'Ours in the first cast which also included Yvette Chauviré and Serge Lifar.
