A very rare and attractive decorative program printed on rice paper in both English and Japanese in black ink with blue and purple highlights. Issued for a performance at the Imperial Theatre in Tokyo on May 4th [1923] as part of Kreisler's "Far Eastern Tour under the Direction of Mr. A Strok." "Herr Fritz Kreislar's [sic] Programme" included the Brahms Sonata in G Major op. 78, Viotti's Concerto No. 2 in A minor, and works by Porpora-Kreiseler [sic], Shubert-Kreisler [sic], Rimsky-Korsakoff, Kreiseler [sic], and Smetana, with Michael Racheisen at the piano. 14 x 14 inches (36 X 36 cm). when opened, printed on one side, so ideal for display. Usual creases, but in astonishingly bright and clean condition for a fragile program of this kind.
"The first six days of May were taken up with one concert each day at the Imperial Theater. A two-column spread on the first page of the Japan Advertiser reported after the first performance: "Japanese enthusiasm never ran higher for music of the West than last night for Fritz Kreisler." (Lochner: Fritz Kreisler, p. 211).
A very rare program from Kreisler's only, and hugely successful, visit to Asia.
