Scarce signed photograph from the great American bon vivant, actor and pianist. A student of Schoenberg, he was a close friend and important promoter of George Gershwin and played the role of himself in the Gershwin biopic "Rhapsody in Blue." The present sepia photograph shows Levant in a dapper pinstriped suit, entering through a door, and is inscribed "To Sam Wingfield who is responsible for this and many other pictures. Gratefully Oscar Levant." Photograph measures 15.25 x 20.25 cm, is moderatly worn around the edges, but overall fine.
