Uncommon CDV portrait of the French mezzo-soprano, the first Metropolitan "Carmen" (1884). Her Italianate name is in fact a version of her original French name, backwards: Gloria Caroline Gillebert! An unidentified photographer imprint with the letter "P" with crown printed to verso and the number 1103 lower margin. Slightly foxed, else fine. 4 x 2.5 inches (10 x 6 cm).
