Puccini, Giacomo. (1858–1924). Autograph Signed Letter. A fine autograph letter, signed warmly "Ciao Giacomo," in Italian, to Antonio Bettolacci. One page, dated 4.8.1913. Self-contained mailer with stamp, address and postmark on verso. He writes to "Dear Tonino" about his planned arrival in Viareggio and the heat here (Milano) where it has reached 34 degrees. Regarding a raincoat which he has already sent to Tonino, "it is for HER [emphasis is Puccini's]. You keep it hidden in the suitcase or in a parcel." He closes by suggesting, cryptically, that Tonino "come and join me to orchestrate the crime." In very fine condition, sold together with a vintage postcard photograph portrait.
Bettolacci was Puccini's longtime business agent and one of the composer's closest friends.
