[Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo] Stravinsky, Igor. (1882–1971) . Signed Ballet Russe Program. Official souvenir program book for the 1945-1946 tour of the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo directed by Serge Denham, with the remarkable surrealistic cover picture by Dorothea Tanning. The program's title page is signed by a number of dancers and arts/entertainment luminaries, and by the composer, Igor Stravinsky (a previous owner has drawn a little red arrow pointing to his signature). Others autographs are from Mia Slavenska, Jean Pierre Aumont, Alexis Smith and Craig Stevens, Reginald Gardiner (British actor ), Joan Leslie, Rex Evans, Dick Cromwell, Lucille Bremer, and several more not quite decipherable.



One of the many colorful ads within - for Beautiful Bryans Hosiery/Stockings - is by Salvador Dali, and the volume is full of black and white pictures of principle and corps dancers, including Maria Tallchief, Alexandra Danilova, Frederic Franklin, Leon Danielian and Nathalie Krassovska. Edges a bit rough, covers somewhat worn but overall in very good condition.
