Including eleven illustrations by Charles Copeland, showing scenes described by the song text. The photograph of the author is inscribed in ink "Compliments of the Author Walter Kittredge." A few small chips at extremities, a few pages with small tears to margins, and scattered foxing. Overall a good copy of this most famous of all Civil War songs, inscribed by the composer.

"I wrote the words and music at the same time one evening, soon expecting to go down South to join the boys in blue, and I desired to have something to sing for them, as that had been my profession, giving concerts for a few years before the war."
