An autograph signed envelope and an original CDV photograph of the Romantic Norwegian composer, most celebrated for his Piano Concerto in A minor, for his incidental music to Ibsen's "Peer Gynt" (which includes Morning Mood and In the Hall of the Mountain King), and for his collection of piano miniatures, Lyric Pieces.
CDV is ca. 1880, by an unidentified photographer and in very good condition (6.4 X 10 cm). The envelope is addressed and on the verso, boldly signed "Edvard Grieg" with a short note, apologizing for having forgotten the picture ("Verzeihung! Ich hatte das bild vergessen."). The postmark is from London, May 30, 1906 - Grieg's last visit to the UK before his death the following year.
