Original silver gelatin print of the Roth Quartet's second violinist, Jeno Antal, shown seated with an unidentified other man standing, one leg up on the chair. Together with a printed postcard caricature of Antal in profile, signed lower right in the print by an unidentified artist. Both by descent through Antal's family. Mounting remnants to verso of each, else fine. 5 x 7.8 inches; 12.7 x 19.8 cm (photograph) and 3.5 x 5 inches; 8.9 x 12.7 cm (postcard).

The Roth Quartet, founded in Budapest in 1922, made its debut in Paris in 1924 and toured the US in the late 1920s before permanently settling there, due to the rise of fascism in Europe. They premiered many important modern works, including quartets by Prokofiev and Korngold.
