Founded in 1931, it reopened after the war at the helm of Sir Alexander Korda  - among the films in which he was involved during this period were The Fallen Idol (1948) and \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003efilm noir\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003eclassic, The Third Man (1949) which was shot both on location and at the studios. An avid autograph collector, Blake developed relationships with many of the leading actors and film composers of the period. \u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\n\u003cspan\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eIn 1960 the legendary film composer was in the later stages of his prolific career at Warner Bros., having composed the scores for the comedy-drama film \u003cem\u003eCash McCall \u003c\/em\u003e(1960) starring James Garner, as well as the dramatic film \u003cem\u003eThe Dark at the Top of the Stairs\u003c\/em\u003e (1960). But the year was highlighted by the massive success of his sweeping romantic theme for \u003cem\u003eA Summer Place\u003c\/em\u003e, released late 1959, which dominated radio airwaves and spent nine weeks at number one on the Billboard charts in early 1960 and which won the Grammy Award for Record of the Year.\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\n\u003cspan\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003c\/span\u003eSteiner composed over 300 film scores with RKO Pictures and Warner Bros., and was nominated for 24 Academy Awards, winning three: \u003ci\u003eThe\u003c\/i\u003e \u003ci\u003eInformer\u003c\/i\u003e (1935); \u003ci\u003eNow\u003c\/i\u003e, \u003ci\u003eVoyager\u003c\/i\u003e (1942); and \u003ci\u003eSince You Went Away\u003c\/i\u003e (1944).
