Striking signed promotional film headshot of the great singer and actress as seen in A Child Is Waiting, the 1963 American drama film directed by John Cassavetes, starring Burt Lancaster and Garland as, respectively, the director of a state institution for intellectually disabled and emotionally disturbed children, and a new teacher who challenges his methods. Boldly signed in blue ballpoint ink with her name to a lighter area of the image, an ideal example in very fine condition. 8 x 10 inches; 20.3 x 25.4 cm.
From the collection of Eddie Blake, projectionist at the United Kingdom's Shepperton film studios. Founded in 1931, it reopened after the war at the helm of Sir Alexander Korda - among the films in which he was involved during this period were The Fallen Idol (1948) and film noir classic, The Third Man (1949) which was shot both on location and at the studios. An avid autograph collector, Blake developed relationships with many of the leading actors and film composers of the period.
