Kostelanetz, André. (1901 - 1980). Signed Photograph.

Signed original glossy Alexander Bender photograph of the popular American "Pops" conductor, who was the husband of Lily Pons. Inscribed "For E. Blake / with every best wish / very cordially / Andre Kostelanetz." Studio stamp to verso, together with a note that reads "Andre [sic] Kostelanetz / He conducts his orchestra for 'Smoke gets in your eyes.' / Eddie had several copies of his performances." In very fine condition with clip impression on top left corner. 8 x 10 inches; 20.3 x 25.4 cm. 

From the collection of Eddie Blake, projectionist at the United Kingdom's Shepperton film studios. Founded in 1931, it reopened after the war at the helm of Sir Alexander Korda  - among the films in which he was involved during this period were The Fallen Idol (1948) and film noir classic, The Third Man (1949) which was shot both on location and at the studios. An avid autograph collector, Blake developed relationships with many of the leading actors and film composers of the period.
