Separately-issued later edition (revised and edited by Siloti) of the fifth piece in his Morceaux de fantaisie, Op. 3 (1892), for piano solo. Signed by Rachmaninoff on the front title page. [PN] 20218. 7 pp. Spine reinforced with paper, small color stamps attached to the very tops of pages (apparently an attempt at repairs!), light stains and small tears to edges, otherwise very good. Signed musical scores of the composer are scarce - astonishingly, we have traced only a couple in over 50 years of sales records.
The present Serenade is a brief, charming work characterized by its Spanish-influenced rhythm, staccato chords, and melodic lines. It is widely recognized as a delicate, lighter contrast to the famous Prelude in C-sharp minor in the same set.
