Two neat rows of pearls, marching between ropes of gold. Fully drilled cultured pearls of about 4.5 to 5.0 mm, with a cool silvery tone, are strung on gold chain with polished gold spacers between each group of two, and the whole is bordered on either side by a twisted rope of brightly polished 14k yellow gold. The box-and-tongue clasp is a small architectural flourish of its own, decorated with half-pearl cabochons among raised gold studs, with a fixed safety chain.

A mid-century piece with a fine Upper East Side address: it comes from a 60 East End Avenue estate.
